MCED was founded in 2006 to develop Beatrice Biodiesel, the largest most advanced biodiesel facility in the US at the time.
Starting in 2008, MCED expanded to assist early stage technology companies and universities with process design, process scale-up, and development of demonstration facilities including fabrication and delivery of the of the systems. The focus of the work was primarily related to biofuels and bioenergy and supported customers globally.
Over the years MCED has functioned as lead engineer and project developer for large scale gas to liquids and gasification projects for the production of fuels and chemicals from a variety of biomass and renewable feedstocks.
MCED has worked with a number of oil & gas companies to purify gas streams and treat out of spec crude oils and fuels for commercial use and to produce salable products.
in 2022 MCED developed a CO2-Fuel process that utilizes industrial waste CO2 to produce renewable and sustainable jet fuel (SAF) and diesel. MCED expects to have the 1st refinery using this technology operating in 2025 and plans to build a network or refineries to support the growing global SAF demand.
As a result of this experience MCED has developed an expansive network of fabricators and component technology providers necessary to develop and supply skidded, modular process systems.
Monte Cristo Engineering & Development (MCED) was founded in 2005 by David R Blythe in Lincoln Nebraska.
Mr. Blythe has extensive engineering, construction, operations and maintenance experience holding senior positions at several of the larger power utilities in the US.
Mr. Blythe is a known expert in the production of biofuels, bioenergy, and the production of process equipment and systems. He is an engineer, a certified program and project manager, and holds a Masters in International Business from Duke Universities Fuqua School of Business.
Mr. Blythe is also an entrepreneur that has been involved in the startup of several technology companies in both the US and EU.
Monte Cristo Engineering & Development (MCED) is staffed by engineers, designs, consultants, constructors, and operators on a project by project basis to execute the contracted scope of work.
MCED sub-contracts tasks such as equipment fabrication and certification along with specialized computer modeling and analysis to partner companies.
